We’re Jon and Sam, the husband-and-wife team behind Lagom Design and Build, and we’re truly passionate about transforming homes.
Our journey began over a decade ago with a 700 sq. ft. fixer upper. Since then, we've been transforming homes from the ground up, solving renovation challenges and creating spaces that feel just right.
Lagom was born from a simple idea: to turn our shared passion into a business that lets us work together as best friends and partners—building a life we love.
Meet Sam
Principal Designer & Project Manager
I’ve spent the past 10 years specializing in project management, leading large-scale projects and managing teams for municipalities and financial institutions. That experience shapes how I approach each project today—with clarity, organization, and a thoughtful, well defined process. Alongside this work, I followed my passion for interior design through a blend of self-directed learning, continued education, and hands-on experience across full remodels.
My design work is grounded in a strong understanding of construction, allowing ideas to be both creative and practical. I’m passionate about designing spaces that feel personal and meaningful to the people who live in them, and about exploring unique solutions that balance function, beauty, and everyday life.
Meet Jon
General Contractor
I’ve spent the past 17 years working in the construction industry, with experience ranging from framing and home builds to brick laying and heavy equipment operation. For more than 10 years prior to founding Lagom Design & Build, I worked as a site supervisor on large-scale projects, overseeing complex builds and coordinating trades on active job sites.
Since 2015, I’ve focused on renovating and rebuilding homes with an emphasis on quality workmanship, well-run sites, and clear communication. I believe a thoughtfully managed build leads to better results—and a better experience for our clients.

Once we’ve fully understood your vision, we’ll prepare a tailored proposal that reflects your specific needs and project scope.
Our estimate will break down budget allowances for design elements, fixtures, and other essentials, giving you a clear picture of the costs involved. We’ll take the time to review everything with you, answer any questions, and adjust as needed.

Once the estimate is approved, we move into the essential design and planning phase. Together, we’ll finalize layouts, select materials, and set realistic timelines—ensuring no surprises along the way.
You’ll have a clear, detailed plan for the project, with plenty of opportunities for feedback.
For projects requiring permits, we’ll handle all the necessary paperwork and coordinate with registered professionals and the municipality to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.
